Tata vs. Satish Chandra
family general beginner real_caseYou know the one I'm talking about. This 1977 case decided that a man can't marry another woman if his first wife is missing. Now, I know what you're thinking - 'What's the big deal?' But hear me out. The case was about a businessman, J.R.D. Tata, who wanted to marry his mistress after his wife went missing. He got a Court order, saying his wife was dead, and then married this woman.
But here's the thing - the Supreme Court said 'Wait a minute'. The Court said that just because the wife is missing, it doesn't mean she's dead. And if she's still alive, it's not possible for Tata to marry his mistress. Now, I know many of you will be thinking - this is an outdated concept, we have more modern laws now.
