Machisso v State of Goa: A Landmark Case on Admissibility of Confession

Bhai, I'm still up 'cause I was reading on Machisso v State of Goa (1982) Cr LJ 1207 (SC). So, here's the thing - this case revolves around a confession made by an accused to his friend. Now, the SC held that confessions made to strangers are inadmissible in court, but those made to close friends or family can be admitted under S 25 of the Evidence Act. My take is that this judgment is way outdated, bhai. What's the definition of 'close friend'? Can't be applied universally. Also, don't you think it creates an opportunity for the accused to plant false information? For CUET PG Law, I think it's essential to understand the limitations of this judgment and how it's been critiqued.
