Labour Law Myth Debunked: No Workman's Compensation for Accidents Outside Work Hours?

Most coaching notes and even some toppers claim that workmen compensation under the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1923 does not cover accidents happening outside work hours. Kuch khamosh karte karte, isse galat hai. The truth is, the Act clearly states that coverage extends to accidents happening "whether in the course of or in connection with his employment or not". So, if someone takes an employee for a group outing and a worker gets injured, his employer is still liable under this Act! It's not just limited to work hours, and this myth needs to be busted. Don't believe everything written in those coaching notes, folks.
