Kesavananda Bharati v. State of Kerala (1973)

This case is a MIND-BLOWING example of the Constitutional Court's power to interpret the Constitution. Kesavananda Bharati, a priest, challenged the Kerala Land Reforms Act, saying it went against the basic structure of the Constitution. The Supreme Court said even Parliament can't amend certain fundamental features of the Constitution – the 24th Amendment was declared unconstitutional. This landmark judgment gave the judiciary immense power to check the legislature. But what do you guys think? Was this the right decision? Can the judiciary really control the legislative power? I personally think it was a BIG DEAL for the separation of powers in India – but opinions may vary.
