Which Article of the Indian Constitution permits the President to declare Financial Emergency?
constitutional judiciary intermediate mcq_debateA) Article 72 B) Article 123 C) Article 360 D) Article 365
My friend, Deepak, thinks the answer is C) Article 360. He says, 'Yaar, President ka financial emergency declare karne ke liye Constitution ka Article 360 hi to hai!' I'm like, 'Nahin Deepak, tum galat ho.' My argument is that Article 360 only permits the President to declare a Financial Emergency after the circumstances creating the threat to the financial stability of India have ceased to exist. Otherwise, it would be a perpetual state of Emergency. Deepak is all, 'Arre, what's the logic in that? Financial Emergency can't be declared if circumstances have ceased to exist?' We both know that the correct answer is out there, but for now, it's 50:50. Help us out, guys.
