When My Brother Refuses to Share His Marks, I Think of the Right to Equality

You know how our parents always say, "Beta, everyone has equal rights"? Yeah, right! It's only when it comes to sharing their marks in the 10th board that they suddenly discover the concept of individuality and difference. But, I digress. The Right to Equality, Article 14 of our Con Law, is all about treating people equally before the law. It means no arbitrary, discriminatory, or biased actions, especially by the state. But, do our state boards really understand the concept? Every time my brother tries to hide his marks, I think of the Delhi Administration v. P.A. Shaikh (1980) case, where the SC ruled that the right to equality is a fundamental right and must be respected. Now, if only my parents would read that case, maybe they'd let him share his marks!
