Unsuing the Enemy - Understanding Section 84

Finally, got it - the elusive concept of Section 84 plea in IPC. Kya baat hai, this thing is like a boomerang - always comes back to haunt you. It's about unsound mind, abetment, and how a person who's of unsound mind at the time of commission of an offense can't be held liable. My prof said it's a clever way to get out of trouble, but let me tell you, it never works in practice. Just saw a case of Ritesh Sinha v. State of U.P. where the accused was found to be of unsound mind, but the court still convicted him for abetment because he was aware of his actions. Now I get why they say 'knowledge is power'.
