Understanding the Elusive Concept of 'Holding' in Administrative Law

admin ts_lawcet beginner definition_doubt

I've seen it again and again in textbooks - the term 'holding' is thrown around, but no one explains it in a way that makes sense. They say it's the conclusion of a court, but what does that even mean? Can someone give a concrete example of how 'holding' is used in real-life cases? I'm thinking of something like the Kerala State Electricity Board case, where the Kerala High Court decided on the distribution of solar power subsidies... Can someone illustrate how the 'holding' in that case was actually applied, or better yet, a different case where 'holding' was misinterpreted?

Arre, I strongly disagree. Holding ke concept ko samajhne ke liye, humein administrative decision ko isse aise hi define nahi karna chahiye. Holding ek jatil concept hai, jismein multiple factors ka dhyan dena padta hai. Ische liye, humein administrative decision ki sabhi jagah par vichar karne ki aavshyakta hai, nahin ki iski kuch specific jagah par definition banakar define karna chahiye.
