Understanding Difference Between Cognizance and Commencement of Proceedings under CrPC

CrPC chapter 2 mein dono shabdon ka definition milta hai, lekin mujhe lagta hai ki ye dono ek hi cheez ka naye naye naam hain. Cognizance ka definition hai - "when a Magistrate takes cognizance of an offence." Ab, Commencement of Proceedings ka definition hai - "when a Magistrate starts an inquiry, trial, or other proceeding" (BNSS, section 2(f)). Please help, yaar, mujhe samajh nahi aaya kya farq hai.

"Bhai, good topic! Cognizance aur start of proceedings ke beech ka diffrence kafi important hai. Cognizance court ke decision hai ki koi case registered kiya ja sakta hai ya nahin. Jab court cognizance leti hai, toh proceedings start ho jaate hain. Lekin, commencement of proceedings ki baat hai, toh yeh is baat ka ehsaas hai ki proceedings kis tarah se start honge.
