UIDAI's Data Breach: Section 43A of IT Act at Play

So I'm reading this news about UIDAI's massive data breach where lakhs of people's Aadhaar details were leaked, and I'm like "Section 43A ka time hai"! As per Section 43A of the IT Act, any body corporate which knowingly causes or conceives any damage to any person by means of computer resources, shall be liable for damages to such person. Now, the UIDAI is responsible for protecting our Aadhaar data, and if they fail to do so, they're going to have to pay up.

In this case, the UIDAI had a major lapse in security which led to the data breach. And let's just say, it's not like they didn't know about it. Now, we'll have to see how they plan to compensate for the damages.
