The Unwritten Constitution - A Reality Check
constitutional clat_ug intermediate internship_learnYaar, I was volunteering at a NGO and our lawyer took us to a court hearing. We were arguing a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) case and I was expecting some fancy constitutional law points. But the judge said something that left me stunned - "Constitution is not just the written law, it also includes the unwritten conventions and practices." I was like 'arre, kya pata?' But the lawyer explained that our Constitution doesn't explicitly mention things like how the PM is addressed as 'Shri' or 'Ji', but they're considered an essential part of our Constitution. It made me realize that our understanding of the Constitution should be more nuanced. CLAT UG needs to cover this aspect, not just the textbook law!
