The 'Right to be Forgotten' of my Old Phone Numbers

Every time I try to delete a bunch of unused phone numbers from my old SIM card, I think of Section 43A of the IT Act. It's like, what's the point of having a 'right to be forgotten' if nobody will delete the stuff I'm trying to hide? But seriously, this section makes it a company's responsibility to secure personal data and delete it when its purpose is over. Like, if I'm canceling my old SIM, the telco should delete all my old phone numbers, right? It's not like I'm trying to stalk anyone or something. Similarly, it's up to the companies to ensure they're not storing sensitive info that might be misuse-able. It's all about accountability and not being a villain.
