The Myth of a 'Good' Lawyer: Overemphasis on IPC in DU LLB Entrance

criminal du_llb advanced hot_take

I'm gonna spit some truth: the way IPS is taught in DU LLB entrance is a recipe for disaster. We're fed so much info on IPC that we're essentially memorizing codes rather than grasping the real-world implications. Meanwhile, actual skill-building areas like drafting, negotiation, and mediation are glossed over. Don't get me wrong, IPC is crucial, but it's not the only game in town. A 'good' lawyer should be able to think critically, not just regurgitate sections. This obsession with passing a single exam and getting a degree has led to so many mediocore lawyers graduating, thinking they're qualified to take on the world. What good is it to know every single section of the IPC if you can't argue a case with conviction? The law is not just about knowing what's written, it's about living it.

Maine toh sabhi ko warna kya pata tha ki LLB entrance mein IPC ki takkar hogi?! Lekin agar aapke pass civil rights ya constitutional law ki knowledge nahi hai, to aapka aage ka rasta kathin ho jaayega. Humko ismein broad thinking aur analytical skills ka practice karni chahiye, IPC par dependency nahi.

Aapne bahut sahi baat ki hai! IPC focus ka bhaiya lagta hai, par maine sune hai ki yeh focus sirf kuch hi colleges mein hai. Mujhe pata hai ek dost ne Daulat Ram college se select ho gaya hai aur woh uske syllabus mein IPC se zyada Contract aur Family law pe focus tha.
