The IT Act: Where Good Intentions Go to Die
cyber general advanced rantI still remember when our professor told us to read the IT Act and I thought to myself, "Arrey yeh toh ek small booklet hai." But no, it's a 300-page behemoth that'll make your head spin. And then there are the rules, case laws, and amendments. It's like trying to drink from a firehose, I swear. In theory, it's meant to protect cyber rights and prevent cybercrime, but in practice, it's just a mess.
I interned at a law firm and saw how the IT Act was used to confuse and intimidate people. Even lawyers got confused, and I'm not lying. One case I saw was about online defamation, where the judge ruled in favor of the plaintiff, but the appeal court overturned it, citing a different section of the act. It was like they were playing a game of "spot the difference" with the law.
"Maine bhi is vichaar ko support kiya hai. IT Act ka nishkarsh poori tarah se hua nahin hai, kyunki ismein kai adhikaron ka khada ho gaya hai. Section 66A ka uddharan, jiske baad logon ko 'online insult' par lagao diya gaya. Yeh theek nahi hai. Hamaare desh mein free speech ka moolbhav hai, aur yeh hatao nahi jaana chahiye.
