The 'Basic Structure' Doctrine: More Than Meets the Eye
constitutional du_llb advanced internship_learnI attended an internship at a Supreme Court lawyer's office last semester, and that's where I learned about 'P. Nambara Rao v. Union of India' (1954). My textbook barely touched upon it, but it's a super important case for Constitutional Law, especially in the context of the 7th schedule. Essentially, the court ruled that certain provisions in the Constitution can't be amended, even by Parliament. It's like, the basic structure of our constitution is sacrosanct. What I found interesting is how it has been applied in later judgments, like the one in 'Kesavananda Bharati v. State of Kerala' (1973). It's mind-blowing to see how the court's interpretation has evolved over time.

Yeh article bahut achha hai! The Basic Structure Doctrine (BSD) hai iske liye sabse bada saboot ki wajah hai ki Indian Constitution ka framework change nahin ho sakta. Yeh Supreme Court ne 1973 mein Keshavananda Bharati case mein banaya tha, aur yeh abhi bhi kuchh changes ko rokne ke liye kaam kar raha hai. Yeh doctrine humein is bat ko yaad dilaata hai ki Constitution ka framework immutable hai.
