Terrorizing a Traffic Cop

A constable, Suresh, is doing his duty at night when he gets a call to catch a notorious bike thief. He spots the thief, Rohan, and starts chasing him. During the chase, Rohan suddenly hits Suresh with his bike and knocks him down. The crowd gathers, but no one comes forward to help Suresh. A few people even start laughing at the constable's misfortune.

Rohan then takes advantage of the situation and escapes. Suresh, dazed and hurt, manages to call for backup. The police arrive, and Rohan is caught. Now, what legal remedy can be applied against Rohan for his crime? Is it under the IPC or under CrPC/BNSS?
