Should Death Penalty be Abolished in India?

Ye to kya baat hai? Our Constitution clearly says Article 21 - Right to Life, but then why do we still have a Death Penalty? Papa ne is case ko cite kiya - Jagdeo Kisor case 1994, where the court held that mandatory death sentence is against Article 21. Ab kya? Should we not reconsider the whole thing and move on to more humane punishment? What's your take? Abey, some seniors here will say, "But think of the Nirbhaya case, what was the justice if we didn't hang the murderer?" I say, what about reformation, rehabilitation? Can't we focus on making them better citizens rather than just punishing them? Do we really need our courts to be the ones to decide who lives and dies?
