Section 377: Freedom of Choice

constitutional general intermediate news_to_law

Told you Section 377 was a matter of time to be misused! Last month, a woman in UP filed an FIR against her husband for "not being a good husband" and his mother for "not letting her cook food according to her choice". She claimed her rights to life, liberty, and freedom under Article 21 were being violated. Now, I'm not saying her grievances are baseless, but the way she's using the law is, kinda. This is exactly why Section 377 is problematic - it gives way too much power to individuals, allowing them to misuse laws for personal vendettas. It's a slippery slope, and we're seeing the consequences. The whole 'freedom of choice' thing is a two-edged sword, you know?
