Section 154 CrPC: Filing FIR - Where is the Transparency?

Main police station jaakar FIR karna chahta hoon, par officer apni side se kuch puchega, kuch likhega, aur fir mere pass koi document nahi diya jayega. Yeh to 2025 mein bhi kya ho raha hai, police FIR filing process mein transparency ki kami hai. Ab toh hum CUET PG Law me study kar rahein, lekin yeh section 154 CrPC ki samajh karnay ka mukhya kadam hai, par logon ko iske bare mein pataa hi nahin hai.

Section 154 CrPC indeed leaves room for improvement in terms of transparency when it comes to FIRs. While it's mandatory for the police to register an FIR, the process is often shrouded in secrecy. The public should have access to the FIR number, name of the SHO, and the details of investigation. Transparency breeds accountability, and this is where the law can be strengthened.
