Under section 48 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1973, a police officer in any area within the limits of his station-house-officer's station-house police station can arrest without a warrant:

A) A person accused or suspected of committing an offence which is cognizable but not punishable with imprisonment for a term exceeding 3 years. B) A person accused or suspected of committing a non-cognizable offence. C) A person accused or suspected of committing an offence which is punishable with imprisonment for a term exceeding 3 years. D) A person accused or suspected of committing an offence where the police officer has reasonable suspicion.

My attempt: A) - jab tum log mock tests dete ho, I'm at my shift, I'm guessing A) but is it?

Please give the answer and explanation.

"Aapko police power of arrest ke baare mein pata chalna chahiye. CrPC, Section 41 & 42 ke under police arrest kar sakti hai, lekin yeh arrest only 'reasonable suspicion' ke basis par karna chahiye. Section 41: Police arrest kar sakti hai agar person 'cognizable offence' ke suspect hai aur Section 42: police arrest kar sakti hai agar person ka 'offence' unke presence mein kiya jaata hai.
