Police Power of Arrest under CrPC

Under section 48 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1973, a police officer in any area within the limits of his station-house-officer's station-house police station can arrest without a warrant:

A) A person accused or suspected of committing an offence which is cognizable but not punishable with imprisonment for a term exceeding 3 years. B) A person accused or suspected of committing a non-cognizable offence. C) A person accused or suspected of committing an offence which is punishable with imprisonment for a term exceeding 3 years. D) A person accused or suspected of committing an offence where the police officer has reasonable suspicion.
