Misdirected Misrepresentation

A man, Vikas, enters into a contract with Raju agreeing to sell a car for ₹ 10 Lakhs. Vikas represents to Raju that the car has a unique feature called 'Turbo Boost' which significantly increases the car's speed. The representation is made in good faith, but Vikas knows it to be false. The contract doesn't mention anything about 'Turbo Boost'. However, while making the payment, Raju tells Vikas, 'I'm paying extra for the Turbo Boost feature.' Vikas doesn't respond. Later, it's discovered that the car doesn't have the 'Turbo Boost' feature.

The trap is that many students think this is a misrepresentation under Section 17 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872. They think Vikas has made a false statement of fact, which has induced Raju to enter into the contract.
