Lok Adalat: A Necessary Evil or an Illusion of Justice?
family cuet_pg intermediate discussionLok Adalat is our govt's brainchild to resolve minor legal disputes outside the courts. But is it just a fancy name for a speedier, cheaper version of justice? I think it's more of a PR stunt. We're making people think that Lok Adalats are an alternative to the courts, but the truth is, most cases are decided in Lok Adalats based on settlement agreements, which means the parties are actually compromising on their rights. In my opinion, Lok Adalats are not an extension of our justice system but a parallel 'alternative' system, meant to divert minor cases and free up precious judicial resources. Isn't it just a way of reducing our workload on courts instead of really delivering justice? What do you guys think about it?
