IT Act 2000: A Flawed Foundation for Cyber Law Education?

I firmly believe that the IT Act 2000 is a flawed foundation for teaching cyber law in CUET PG Law. Its outdated provisions and broad definitions make it more of a hindrance than a help in understanding the complexities of cyber law. The Act's failure to address issues like deepfakes, AI-generated content, and cryptocurrency regulation makes it a relic of the past. Moreover, its focus on liability and penalty rather than proactive measures for data protection and security leaves students woefully unprepared for the practical implications of cyber law.

Not to mention, the Act's ambiguous language and contradictions with other laws, like the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021, only add to the confusion. What's the point of teaching a law that's more of a patchwork of outdated provisions than a cohesive framework for addressing the rapidly evolving landscape of cyber law?
