family clat_ug beginner case_analysis

My friend's cousin just got divorced because her husband was involved in a secret relationship with another woman for 6 years. He even has 2 kids with this other woman. In the divorce settlement, her cousin's husband just gives her 1 lakh rupees and keeps everything else for himself, including their 3-year-old son. My friend's cousin is devastated and wants to know if she can appeal the court's decision. What are her chances of getting a better settlement? And can she even fight for custody of her child?

"Kya yeh sach hai ki wife ki haqeeqat doosri shikaayat hai? (Is it really true that the wife's rights is just another complaint?) In cases of husband's deceit, court should focus more on the wife's emotional trauma and financial loss, not just the material aspects. We should also consider the wife's autonomy and agency in decision-making, especially if she was misled into making big financial decisions.

Bhai, I don't think we can generalize wife's rights post-husband's deceit. Every case is unique. If husband has committed bigamy or hidden property, it's a different story. But if he's just been dishonest about his income or something, can't we say wife must show evidence of actual loss or harassment? Over-broad interpretations can lead to more problems than solutions.
