Family Law Mooting - A Nightmare Unfolds
family judiciary beginner experience_shareSo, our college organised a moot court competition on family law, and I was part of the team. Our topic was 'Rights of a minor child in case of parental separation'. We were given a case, R. V. Karnataka State Government (2016), and had to argue on behalf of the minor child. I was the lead speaker, and honestly, I was nervous all day.
I started by saying the child's welfare is paramount, as per Section 26 of the Hindu Minority and Guardianship Act, 1956. Then I quoted various judgments, including Vishaka v. State of Rajasthan (1997), to show how the court considers the child's interest. However, I messed up the argument when I said 'Ye section sapne mein aata hai ab' (This section comes to mind now). Our opponents, from the opposing team, immediately pounced on it, saying it wasn't relevant.
Bhai, I totally feel u. Mooting on Family Law is indeed a daunting task. Ek baar maine bhi karke dekh liya tha, aur mere dimaag mein abhi bhi voh scenes hai. Sab questions, woh alimony, maintenance, child custody... sab confusion. Phir bhi, humein practice karna hai aur apne skills ko sudharna hai. Kya aap kuchh tips share nahi kar sakte?
