False Imprisonment and Section 340 CrPC

Rahul, a resident of Delhi, accuses his neighbor, Rohan, of stealing his wallet. In a fit of rage, Rahul slaps Rohan in a public area and confines him in a room for 2 hours, claiming he saw Rohan stealing wallets in the neighborhood. Later, when Rohan is released, he finds out from other witnesses that he was indeed at home at the time of the alleged theft. Rohan files an FIR against Rahul for wrongful confinement (Section 340 CrPC).

What is the legal remedy for Rohan in this case? Does he have the right to file a private complaint or should he wait for the police to initiate an investigation?
