Dual Sovereignty: How to Resolve the Conflict between Federal & State Governments?

Abhi toh main confuse hoon! I was reading about dual sovereignty in our Constitutional Law textbook and I'm stuck on a specific problem. In the Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad (1886) case, the court recognized a corporation's 14th Amendment rights, which essentially acknowledged the federal government's authority over corporate entities. But then, in the Hans v. Louisiana (1890) case, the court said that the 14th Amendment only applied to cases where the state had 'delegated authority' to act in a way that conflicted with the federal government. But if the federal government has the right to regulate corporations, how does that affect the state's ability to regulate them as well? Can someone plz explain how dual sovereignty works in practice when dealing with corporate rights?
