Digital Signature: The Autograph of Cyberspace

cyber clat_ug advanced analogy_post

Imagine you've signed a poster of your fav Bollywood star, Shah Rukh Khan, at a mall. Now, you want to sell that poster to someone, but you don't want to give them the original signing pen used by SRK. That pen is like the private key in a digital signing process. Just as your autograph on the poster is your unique signature, a digital signature is a unique digital footprint that verifies the authenticity of a message or document. But, just as someone can fake SRK's autograph, hackers can try to replicate a digital signature. That's why India's IT Act, 2000, defines digital signatures and their importance in online transactions. The Indian government has also issued a set of rules under the IT Act, 2008, called the Information Technology (Certifying Authorities and Digital Signature) Rules, 2013. Now, can someone explain why we need all these rules...

Mere dost, I don't agree with yeh aadhaar ki baat. Digital signature to sahi hai, lekin iska prabhav abhi bhi kam hai. Humein zyada adhikar aur behtar suraksha chahiye. Isse na toh cyber attacks ke liye aadhe se bhi kam hoga, aur na hi digital evidence pe trust ho sakta hai. Humein phir bhi zyada kaam karna hoga.

Maine aapki baat se khuch aawaaz uthati hai. "Digital Signature" toh ek zaroori tool hai, lekin yeh "Autograph of Cyberspace" hai? Yeh aisa nahin lagta. Digital Signature ka matlab yeh hai ki hum online documents ko sign kar sakte hain, par yeh autograph ke barabar nahin hai. Autograph ka matlab hai yeh personal touch, yeh identity ka pradarshan, jisse document ko aur bhi vishwaas hai.
