Debunking the Myth of Expressions of Will
contract ts_lawcet intermediate internship_learnIn our internship at a corporate law firm, we had the opportunity to observe a court case related to contract law. The judge's verdict was based on the principle of "offer and acceptance" which is taught in law school, but what struck us was the subtlety involved in it. It wasn't just about a plain offer and acceptance, but also about the intention behind it. We saw a case where a company made an offer with certain conditions, but the other party accepted it without realizing those conditions. The judge ruled in favor of the buyer, citing that the seller's intention wasn't clear and therefore, the acceptance was not valid. This case taught us that contract law isn't just about legal jargon, but also about the intentions and nuances of the parties involved. It's something that our textbook couldn't teach us, but something we learned from real-life experience.
