Cyber Snooping Scandal Triggers Non-Disclosure Clause
cyber clat_ug beginner news_to_lawYou might have followed the recent scandal where an Indian journalist got access to some Indian government official's WhatsApp chat, which included sensitive info about an ongoing investigation, leaked online. Now, we all know this was wrong, but the interesting part is, this has sparked a big debate on 'non-disclosure clause' in our IT Act. As per Section 70, 'any information, document, material, or information secured under this Act shall not be published or disclosed'. In this case, the journalist got unauthorized access to govt official's WhatsApp chat, which was a clear breach of privacy. But if you think about it, the govt official's conversation itself would've fallen under this non-disclosure clause, making the leak a serious offense.
Maine to aapke points padh kar dhyan diya hai. Non-disclosure clause ka matlab hi yeh nahin hai ki aapko kisi bhi cheez ka share nahin karna chahiye, balki yeh yeh hai ki aapko aisi information share nahi karni chahiye jo third party ko nuksan pahuncha sake.
