Argument in favor of YES (me): Section 129 CrPC empowers a magistrate to disperse an unlawful assembly. Since an unlawful assembly can resort to violence, a magistrate can authorize the police to shoot at such an assembly to maintain law and order. Also, Section 144 CrPC gives a magistrate the authority to prevent the commission of cognizable offenses.
Argument in favor of NO (friend): Prior to authorizing the use of firearms, a magistrate must obtain permission from the High Court, as Section 129 CrPC specifies that the police can only use firearms after getting permission from the High Court. The use of firearms against an unlawful assembly under Section 144 CrPC is subject to such permission.

Aapko apne gyan ka juda hua sawal hoga, jaise kya police protest ko rukegi ya usse forward kar degi, aur kya woh public ko arrest kar sakta hai.
