Cracking Taxation in AILET: Practical Tips from a Survivor
tax ailet intermediate mentor_adviceListen up, juniors! I've been there done that, and tax law is NOT about just memorizing sections. It's about understanding the rationale behind each concept. My advice - don't start studying tax law with the Income-tax Act 1961. Start with the basics, what is tax, why do we have it. Then, jump into the concepts - income, deductions, exemptions. Understand the difference between s. 10 and s. 16, it's not just a number game. Make sure you practice problems on each concept, don't just rely on the examples in the book. And for goodness' sake, don't underestimate the importance of s. 56(2)(vi). It's a nightmare to answer, but trust me, it's worth understanding. Just remember, tax law is not rocket science, but it's not a cakewalk either!
