Cracking Family Law: My CLAT UG Experience

I must say, Family Law in CLAT UG is a minefield - Section 125 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Hindu Succession Act, and guardianship rights can be a real challenge. Last year's CLAT UG exam had a tricky question on the concept of 'cruelty' as mentioned in the Hindu Marriage Act. They made the usual attempt to twist it with Section 498A of the IPC. I attempted to answer it, breaking it down into sections: Actus Reus and Mens Rea of the crime, definition of 'cruelty', and then linking it to the IPC section.

My score: 18/25. I was disappointed at first, but then I saw the rationale, and I realized I was correct in my approach but wrong in my assumption regarding the exact IPC case.
