Constitutional Law is WAY too Eurocentric, yaaar
constitutional bar_exam beginner hot_takeListen, I'm not saying we should reject everything European or Western. But, like, let's be real, our Constitution was written under the influence of British colonialism and we're still clinging to it like our lives depend on it. I mean, have you seen the Indian Constitution? It's like they took the British Constitution, added some fancy words, and called it a day. Where's the Indian perspective? Where's the indigenous knowledge? We're teaching our students to regurgitate the same old stuff without questioning its relevance to our context.
I'm not asking for a complete overhaul, but can't we make it more nuanced? Incorporate other forms of governance, like tribal councils or gram sabhas, which are actually more effective in our system? Our Constitutional Law course should be more like a buffet, where you can choose from different flavors, not just a one-size-fits-all European platter.
