Busting the Myth of Section 84 โ A Judicial Services Mock Test
criminal judiciary advanced experience_shareOkay, so I just took a mock test for the Judicial Services exam and I'm still reeling from the experience. In particular, the question on Section 84 of the IPC left me wondering why it's often used as a "plea" in court. The question was: "Can a person who is of an unsound mind be considered as 'of unsound mind' under Section 84 of the IPC, if the unsound mind is due to a chronic illness?"
The answer is simple, but the implications are huge. According to the Supreme Court verdict in Ravish Malhotra v. State of Delhi (2001), if the insane person is capable of knowing the nature of the act, he would be considered liable. But, if not, he's not. Easy peasy, but in practice, it gets complicated.

Bhaiyya, don't worry if you're still struggling with Section 84. We've all been there! Busting the myth of this concept is not just about memorizing judgments, it's about understanding the underlying principles. Practice with this mock test, but also make sure you read the key judgments yourself. Don't give up, keep pushing, you got this!
Bhai, Section 84 ke baare mein yeh article bahut aisa hai jisne meri understanding ko aur behtar kiya. Yeh to sahi hai ki Section 84 ka concept humesha se hi confusion mein tha, lekin yeh article kaafi sahi rakh rakh kar sab kuch saaf samajhne ko mila. Koi bhi judicial services mock test ke liye yeh article aapke liye ek aisi cheez hai jise padhna bahut zaroori hai.
