Bhai, Contract Law Se Jeevan mein Connection

Okay, so every time I'm at a restaurant and the waiter says ' sir aapke order ready hai', I think of Section 12 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872. ' Agreement not enforceable if it requires performance of an act forbidden by law' - basically, if they tell me the food is ready but it's not, I can refuse to pay!

And then there's Section 26, which says that ' when a stipulation is inserted in a contract, with the intention of defeating the rights contemplated by this Chapter, the stipulation shall be void'. So, when I'm at the gym and the salesperson tries to convince me to buy a lifetime membership, and I'm like 'no way, I'm just here for the trial period', I think of this section.

Yeah, contract law is all around us, even in small things like ordering food!
