Article 21: Fundamental Right to Speedy Trial or Just a Myth?

I don't think it's too far off to say that Article 21's guarantee of a speedy trial has turned into a myth for many. Don't get me wrong, the Right to Life and Liberty is a fundamental right, but in practice, it's not like our courts are exactly known for their speed. I mean, how many times have we seen cases drag on for decades, affecting the lives of the accused and the victims alike?

People often say that the right to speedy trial is ensured by Section 304-A, CrPC, which limits the duration of trial to six months for summary trials. But let's be real, how many summary trials actually happen? In most cases, the accused is either acquitted or convicted on charges that aren't even related to the original crime. It's a joke, man.
