Arbitrariness in Judicial Appointments: Time to Abolish Collegium System

I firmly believe that the Collegium system for judicial appointments is a relic of the past and has no place in modern India. It's arbitrary, opaque, and often favors the interests of the powerful over merit. The system was supposed to be a safeguard against government interference, but in reality, it's created a power vacuum that only the most senior judges can manipulate.

I strongly argue that the government should be more involved in the process of selecting judges and that some form of parliamentary oversight is necessary to ensure that judges are appointed based on merit and not personal connections. What's your take on this? Is the Collegium system a necessary check on executive power or is it time to bring in some accountability?
